I have been a dressmaker for almost as long as I can remember my Grandmother gave me her 100year old foot treadle Singer sewing machine when I was of the ripe old age of around 10years and boy what a speed I used to be able to whip out of that old jalopy. I immediately knew from that moment what I wanted to do and with my Mothers help I started to learn how to sew, from there I learnt even more when in a couple of years I was attending my senior school and I took up the subject beyond the normal compulsory stage, after leaving school I started my career and became an apprentice to one of England's finest tailors where I learnt many skills , I also did some “rag trade” work where I learnt many shortcuts and a lot of the tricks of the trade, I still use many of those to this day.
So here I am some 40 years or so down the track.
I specialise in Bridal and evening wear as well as bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses etc etc . but I will turn my hand to most anything that involves or requires dressmaking.
I do work from commercial patterns such as Vogue, Simplicity, McCall's, Butterick's and such like for the most part but if you have seen a dress or a picture of a dress that you really like I can more often match that as near to exact as is possible should you require it.
I will usually complete a dress within 1 to 2 weeks depending on my work load and the complexity of the dress
.I will require you to come for 2 - 3 fittings during the making and I only do alterations to my own work.
Should you need help and/ or advice on purchasing, patterns, fabrics, notions etc.I am more than happy to assist you and even go with you to the fabric stores if you live in South Australia I make no additional charge for this service if I have a guarantee of your order,
If you wish to ask any questions, require for a rough quote or make an appointment to come and see me to discuss your requirements further or if I can be of any help at all please don't hesitate to contact me by email or phone.
